Donations
I would like to schedule a free home pickup, but I do not have large furniture items. Can I have a truck pick them up?
We are only able to schedule free home pickups for large furniture items at this time. The only exception to this rule is if you have a large quantity of smaller donations. A large quantity is 10 or more large bags or boxes of donations that cannot fit into a passenger vehicle. If you do not have a large quantity of items, please drop them off at any of our donation centers.
What days of the week do you schedule free home pickups for large furniture items or large quantities of items?
We offer pickups Monday-Thursday. Please call (402) 438-2022 to find out what day we are scheduled to be in your area. Unfortunately, we are unable to schedule same day pickups.
What time of day do you schedule pickups, and do I have to be home?
We do not schedule appointments for a specific time of day, and donors do not need to be home for us to do a pickup. As of February 1, 2009, all pickups will be made between approximately 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. We ask that you leave your items in your driveway, on your front porch, or in your garage with the door left open for us first thing in the morning. In the case of inclement weather, we ask that you call and reschedule your appointment if you are not able to leave your items in your garage with the door left open for us. Items that are damaged by the weather will not be accepted.
I would like to schedule a free home pickup, but I cannot move the item(s) outside to my driveway, front porch or garage.
Goodwill is unable to enter homes and apartments for liability reasons. We suggest that you have a friend, relative or neighbor assist you with moving the items outside to your driveway, front porch, or garage so that we may pick them up. If the home or apartment is being vacated or you are the landlord of a property that has been vacated, please contact donations scheduling at (402) 438-2022 for additional information about scheduling a pickup.
I accidentally donated an item to Goodwill, and I would like to get it back. How can I find it?
If you unintentionally donated an item to one of our retail stores, you may contact the retail store by calling or stopping by to see if you can locate the item. If the item is found, you may purchase it back for the listed price if it is still available in the store. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you or a Goodwill employee will be able to locate an item that was accidentally donated.
If you unintentionally donated an item to our warehouse donation center, we will not be able to locate the item for you as we do not keep an inventory of donations and these items are shipped to any one of our six retail stores in Lincoln and York. You may contact any of our retail stores by calling or stopping by to see if you can locate the item. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you or a Goodwill employee will be able to locate an item that was accidentally donated. If the item is found, you may purchase it back for the listed price.
If you unintentionally donated an item in a free home pickup that you scheduled, please contact our main office no later than ONE DAY after the pickup and we will try to locate where the item was sent. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you or a Goodwill employee will be able to locate an item that was accidentally donated. If the item is found, you may purchase it back for the listed price.
