The One Stop Cooperative Computer Lab is located in the Workforce Development One Stop Career Center. The purpose of the lab is to maximize the employability of job seekers in a market that requires some computer knowledge in nearly all jobs. Individuals may receive assistance with resumes, cover letters, and on-line applications, take classes or tutorials to learn basic computer skills, and practice skills such as typing and data entry. Many of the tutorials are available in both English and Spanish. Classes currently available include Introduction to Computers, Basic Internet Job Search, Resumes and Cover Letters, and Basic Microsoft Word. Open lab hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

Job Connection

Goodwill Job Connection is housed in the One-Stop Career Center. Job Connection is an employment resource service for any person looking for a job or a better job, specializing in assistance for persons with disabilities or other special needs. Job Connection provides a message taking service, job postings, self-service computer and word processing tutorials, and assistance with resume writing for a small fee. Also IRis, an Information and Referral software program, which can assist users in finding other human service agencies or services, is offered through Job Connection. Fee-for-service workshops can be arranged related to job seeking skills, such as interviewing or resume writing, as well as workshops on the behavior associated with successful employment, such as stress management and job retention.

 

New Americans Employment Resources Program

 

In cooperation with other Lincoln community organizations, Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska, Inc. provides support to local immigrants and refugees who are seeking employment opportunities. These individuals are willing, able, and often highly skilled workers who face obstacles in finding appropriate employment due to language and cultural barriers. Services available to immigrants and refugees include: assisted job search, volunteer and work experience, and work services. Goodwill Industries also provides support to employers and potential employers who hire or are considering hiring individuals from this population and are concerned about difficulties that may occur as a result of language and cultural differences. These services include: candidate screening, translation and interpretation, job skills training programs, and immigration paperwork assistance. All services are provided at no cost to the job seeker or employer.

 

Retail Organizational Employment (ROE)


This is a program that provides remunerative work opportunities to individuals who meet our basic admission requirements and have sufficient skills to operate independently in their chosen area of employment after a 30 day orientation period. This program is intended to help participants gain the skills necessary to obtain competitive employment at some future time. Individual Program Plans are developed a minimum of two times a year to help the participant work towards achieving the long term goal of competitive employment. In addition, participants are provided service coordination and case management services. Work services is a non-fee program.

 

Goodwill Works Job Search and Soft Skills Training

 

Goodwill offers a variety of soft skills and employment training courses related to employment attainment, retention and interpersonal skills such as stress management using the Goodwill Works curriculum.  Classes may be modified to train many different populations or organizations and  are available as a fee-for-service program.  Currently we offer classes to Lancaster County Adult Probation Day Reporting Center Specialized Substance Abuse Supervision Unit (SSAS).  All participants are referred by their probation officer for employment related course work, job search assistance and soft skills training such as stress management and time management. All participants must complete a series of soft skills courses to comply with the terms of their probation.  

 

Situational Assessment


Situational Assessment is an organized, time-limited, goal directed service designed to help the participant integrate more fully into the community. This fee-for-service program appraises the participant's work behavior, adaptability, physical stamina, and capacity to perform the duties of various work assignments. It provides the basis for determining an individual's level of readiness for employment. The individual's vocation needs, interests, and desires are emphasized when setting appropriate goals.

 

Work Adjustment


Work Adjustment training is an organized, transitional, time-limited, goal directed fee-for-service program designed to improve work-related behaviors, interpersonal skills, and work habits as related to generic work environments. In addition, the program should be able to assist the participant in understanding the meaning, value, and demands of work and to learn or to re-establish skills, attitudes, and personal characteristics.
